Much of the recent discussion over House Republican divisions tries to frame it along the right-left ideological spectrum. Those who voted against McCarthy are more conservative, on average, than the GOP at large – and this is a very conservative House majority. Are people willing to line up behind the compromises House GOP leaders have made with Democrats to keep the government going?
